I am a developmental scientist by training. Currently, I am an Assistant Professor at the Department of Interdisciplinary Social Science and the European Research Centre on Migration and Ethnic Relations (ERCOMER) at Utrecht University.
My lines of research span the fields of developmental and social psychology, as well as family and educational studies.
I am particularly interested in the processes that shape the development of children’s and youths’ ethnic-racial identity and intergroup attitudes. For that reason, I investigate what children and youth learn about ethnicity and race-related topics within their families and at school. My other line of research examines how adults’ respond to diversity-related social change.
I am also a co-initiator and co-host of the podcast Joy in Academia with other emerging racialized scholars based in the Netherlands and Belgium.
